VP, ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

Role:
At The Bloc, a VP, Account Director is the brand champion who oversees the day-to-day management of their accounts. A VP, Account Director will manage their team, provide leadership, guidance and strategic support to all internal team members, and build strong relationships with the client. VP, Account Director finds opportunities in evolving situations and drives change to improve the agency offerings and generate new business within their account.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day management of team, identifying opportunities for organic growth
- Actively participate in strategic development and ensure plans have alignment across issues, strategies, and programming
- Become a trusted partner to all internal and client team members to enable effective communications and problem solving.
- Challenge ideas that are not aligned with brand positioning or long-term vision and come to consensus with internal and external teams
- Participate in clients annual Brand Planning Process and drive resulting Agency tactical plan development
- Participate in fee negotiation and annual scope of work process
- Control monthly forecasting and weekly client communications related to projects/budgets
- Demonstrate mastery in the client’s business and product, keeping up to date on market trends and the competitive landscape
- Monitor and proactively identify future marketing, cultural, consumer and advertising issues facing your client
- Lead the account team to develop best in class briefs that inspire the internal teams to build innovative and award-winning creative work
- Identify and resolve client conflicts effectively and efficiently
- Manage the expectations of both the agency staff and client to ensure a positive, productive atmosphere
- Seek opportunities to showcase agency work among current and prospective clients
- Help interview, train and orient new team members to the agency, department, and account(s) at the direction of department head
- Actively engage in new business pitches
- Ensure adherence to internal agency policies and procedures, including operations and financial management
Requirements
- 8+ years Agency or related healthcare/pharmaceutical marketing experience as an account executive, or senior account executive
- 3+ years of supervisory/ management experience of at least 1-2 direct reports
- Ability to manage and train staff
- Confident oversight of both day-to-day and annual forecasting along with strong financial/budgeting skills to ensure both internal and external goal attainment
- Ability to proactively and thoughtfully prioritize competing projects and timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Global launch experience, including US
- Proven track record of organic growth within the account
- Strong understanding of therapeutic areas and disease states
- Strong knowledge of business practices and vendor relationships
- Well adept in senior level client communications and relationship building
- Experience working with and managing internal account, creative and cross functional agency teams
- Strong, organized thinking that displays analytical and conceptual understanding.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
