Position Overview
As an Assistant Buyer, you will be a key member of a fast-paced, dynamic buying team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Buyers in overseeing the Men's category of business.
Responsibilities Of The Assistant Buyer
- Support the Buying team with purchase orders, markdowns, and foundational merchant tasks.
- Analyze business data using retail math, monitor reports, and assist in sales and inventory projections.
- Develop vendor relationships through in-person meetings, follow up on shipments, and resolve issues.
- Learn to use merchandising systems and understand warehouse processes.
- Build product knowledge through shopping at stores and competitors and communicate insights to the Buyer.
- Track merchandise receipt flow and update the Buyer on arrivals.
- Assist Buyers in preparing for key meetings, including report formatting and presentation support.
Required Experience/Skills for the Assistant Buyer:
- 2 - 3 years of Assistant Buyer experience specifically in the Men's buying category.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in Retail Math and analysis.
- Must have luxury product knowledge.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and build relationships.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude toward feedback and change.
- Intellectually curious, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Resilient and persistent, focused on problem-solving and achieving goals.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
