About The Role
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on
Director of Talent Acquisition & People Ops to build and scale our team. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the leadership team, the primary focus of this role will be
on recruiting and internal talent acquisition, supported by broader people operations. The Director will be Sourgum's founding HR employee. They'll lead hiring strategy, ensuring we attract, hire, and retain top talent while also shaping the people strategy that supports our company's growth. **
This role is fully in-person at our Jersey City office.**
We want an A+ player with a proven track record of hiring A+ players.
Responsibilities
Recruiting
- Design and implement overall recruiting strategy, source and recruit candidates, screen candidates resumes and job applications, conduct interviews and onboarding
- Own the full-cycle hiring process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and closing top candidates
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and build strong talent pipelines
- Implement scalable recruiting processes and leverage technology to drive efficiency
- Create and refine onboarding programs to ensure new hires are set up for success
People Operations
- Oversee other HR functions, including benefits and wellness administration, succession planning, employee engagement, training, and professional development
- Design and implement competitive compensation, benefits, and performance management programs to attract and retain top talent
- Act as a strategic partner to leadership, advising on all people-related matters, including workforce planning, team development, and organizational design
- Champion Sourgum's core values and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high-performance that aligns with our mission
- Leverage HR data to make informed people decisions and optimize talent strategies
- Act as a point of contact for employee relations, mediating conflicts and supporting resolution processes
Requirements
- Progressive leader with 10+ years of HR experience with 5+ years in a dedicated talent acquisition role. Must have a proven track record in talent acquisition, leading culture initiatives, compensation and benefits programs, and employee relations, at venture-backed high-growth tech companies
- Proven track record of hiring top talent at venture-backed, high-growth tech companies
- Experience scaling teams in Series A (and beyond) startups and building recruitment infrastructure from the ground up
- Deep knowledge of best-in-class recruiting strategies, employer branding, and talent acquisition technologies
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align people strategies with overall business objectives
- Adaptability, resilience, and comfort with ambiguity
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
