Job Description
Seeking a growth-oriented engineer to serve as our Highway (Civil) Department Manager. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth of the department, focusing on project execution and supporting other Project Managers on a variety of transportation projects. This person will collaborate closely with clients and project teams, working throughout the project life cycle to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the transportation department.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage and monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely transportation.
- Coordinate with other departments to optimize logistics processes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess department performance.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of transportation professionals.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement safety protocols.
- Prepare and manage the transportation budget effectively.
- Address and resolve transportation-related issues and conflicts.
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports for upper management regarding transportation metrics.
- Innovate and implement new technologies to improve service delivery.
- Develop training programs for team members focused on skills enhancement.
- Collaborate with upper management to align transportation strategies with business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management.
- Proven experience in team leadership and staff development.
- Strong understanding of transportation laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with logistics software and technology solutions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience.
- Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
- Knowledge of the latest industry trends and best practices.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in project management is a plus.
