Summary:
As the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of the client's trucking operations, retail cartage sales, and FOB HMA sales. Acting as the primary point of contact for the trucking business, you will drive efficiency, profitability, and compliance while cultivating a high-performance culture.
This role includes direct leadership of the Logistics Coordinator, Customer Service Representatives, and the client's drivers.
Key Responsibilities-
Operations & Logistics:
Manage dispatching, fleet capacity, and backhaul logistics for asphalt mix, aggregates, and construction trucks.
Oversee plant scale house operations, raw material inventory, and material dump site compliance.
Financial & Business Performance:
Own P&L management, monitoring costs, profitability, and rate structures.
Expand external hauling opportunities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development:
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing logistics team.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational excellence.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and environmental regulations.
Implement safety training programs and oversee incident reporting.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary liaison for customers, union partners, and third-party haulers.
Develop strong industry relationships and enhance business opportunities.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in construction trucking, road construction, and fleet management.
- Strong financial, analytical, and budgeting skills.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in logistics and construction software (Microsoft Office, XBE, Motive, Spectrum, etc.).
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
