Summary: Injection Mold Tool Makers have a wide range of responsibly, including set up and operation of any number of different machines to produce fixturing and tooling for in-house production machining. Toolmakers are required to work on their own and with others when needed. They must work to close tolerances using a wide variety of machinery and measuring tools. Located in Glendale Heights, IL
Qualifications
Experience:
- Preferred minimum 5 years prior experience using machinery to produce and repair injection mold tooling, spare components, and new mold tool builds.
- Ability to perform multiple functions using CNC machines, Lathes, Mills, Grinders, EDM, and Welders.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous experience working with CAM software specifically Mastercam is a plus.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent;(minimal requirement)
- Preferred candidate will have completed a formal apprenticeship or trade school with 4 years of on-the-job experience or 5 years of job experience. Willing to train an interested person in an apprentice program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- Being responsible to set-up and operate many different types of machines. a partial list of machinery includes CNC machines, Milling machines, Lathes, Surface grinder, Welders, and Torches.
- Able to read and interpret sketches and blueprints. Understand and use various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.
- Machining to close tolerances on dimensions.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, machining practices, heat treating, welding and silver soldering, etc.
- Must possess good math skills and is able to perform simple geometry and trigonometry.
- Be willing to troubleshoot manufacturing problems related to fixturing and tooling.
- Ability to complete jobs quickly and efficiently.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment.
- Must be able to lift 55 pounds and stand/walk for entire shift (8 hours)
- Solid organizational skills and able to work independently
- Maintain safe work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
