Maintenance Mechanic Overview
The Maintenance Mechanics will need an advanced understanding of both mechanical and electrical industrial manufacturing maintenance. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting the overall reliability of metal production equipment.
Maintenance Mechanic Essential Functions
- Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
- Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts and reassembles in a timely manner.
- Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and conducting PM’s.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Provides data for maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintenance Mechanic Required Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in mechanical maintenance. and
- 10+ years’ experience in electrical maintenance, installing sensors, switches, relays, and overloads.
- VFD & VSDA knowledge a plus.
- Welding and cutting skills.
- Should be capable of reading mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
- Good problem-solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing, and code books.
- Experience on pumps, compressors, gear boxes and blowers.
- Sit down forklift experience.
Maintenance Mechanic Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to read applicable instructions.
- Must have own tools.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at off ground/elevated levels in a Scissor Lift & Boom Lift
- Other duties as assigned
