A Day in the Life of the Design Director
As the Design Director, you will take ownership of design strategy, creative direction, and execution for workplace interiors that prioritize both innovation and functionality. You’ll guide a skilled team of designers, lead client-facing presentations, and ensure every deliverable meets the firm’s world-class design standards. Your expertise in office space planning and commercial interior design will help strengthen the firm’s position as a leader in the evolving workplace landscape.
Responsibilities include:
- Drive the creative vision, space planning, and execution of commercial workplace design projects
- Manage and refine design presentations, documentation, and project deliverables to ensure excellence
- Act as a primary point of contact with clients, delivering exceptional service and design solutions
- Collaborate with architectural and engineering teams to ensure alignment with the design concept
- Provide design mentorship and guidance to junior designers and FF&E specialists
- Monitor and manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring seamless delivery
- Research and implement cutting-edge trends in workspace design and innovation
- Coordinate with preconstruction teams to establish design service proposals and agreements
- Foster a culture of collaboration, discipline, and design excellence within the team
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in workplace design, with experience in a leadership role
- Proven ability to manage a design team and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong executive presence with the ability to represent the company in client meetings and presentations
- In-depth knowledge of current trends in workplace design and design technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with pre-construction architects, engineers, and other external partners in a collaborative setting
- Ability to mentor and develop junior team members
- Are you able to work a Hybrid schedule of 4 days in office / 1 day remote
