Summary: The
intellectual property (IP) paralegal will support the Patent Agents and Attorneys in growing and managing our patent portfolio. You will collaborate with in-house employees, including Engineers and Scientists, to develop invention disclosures, assist Patent Agents with organizing and managing new and existing patent cases, and provide support in other IP matters. The person in this role will conduct research, assist with aspects of drafting and filing patent applications, docket patent cases into CTS docketing system, provide status reports to the team, track progress, and communicate with IP Team and other employees.
Main Responsibilities
- Initial intake and assessment for new invention disclosures.
- Assist with drafting of patent applications.
- Assist in responding to queries and tasks requested by outside patent law firm staff.
- Send responses to outside patent law firms that request submission of materials. Get signed documents from inventors, e.g., assignments and declarations.
- Maintain and generate patent docket reports for the IP Team.
- Create patent status reports for multiple cases that are in process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience with patent prosecution.
- Familiarity with patent applications and the filing process.
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with patent docketing using docketing software.
