Position Summary
Responsible for the effective administration of Club security, accident and theft prevention, emergency/disaster planning, fire and earthquake safety, workers compensation case management and parking lot operations. Manages security personnel and provides membership with a warm and hospitable environment while ensuring safety and security. Responsible for ongoing safety training program for all departments.
Position Responsibilities
- Organizes and directs all work of the security department including the scheduling and delegation of tasks for security personnel
- Recruits, selects and evaluates security personnel. Makes recommendations for pay rate adjustments. Documents and coaches all performance issues in accordance with LACC employee handbook
- Prepares and administers operating budget for security department
- Develops departmental policies and standards of operation to ensure a safe and secure environment for members, guests, vendors, staff and surrounding areas. Develops training programs for security personnel that ensure policies are enforced and that supports growth and continual improvement of team members
Enforcement And Prevention Responsibilities
- Directs routine patrols of Club property to prevent crime, protect life and property, and to create a hospitable and safe environment for members and guests
- Controls entrances and exits of members, guests, employees and vendors to Club property. Establishes procedures to control the protection of club property
- Maintains and distributes records of all incidents regarding criminal, accident or safety issues
- At the direction of the General Manager, CFO, AGM or HR Director, investigates confidential misconduct matters involving employees or members
- Monitors and reviews CCTV system on a regular basis and investigates and reports any suspicious activity
- Maintains communication with municipal and state law enforcement agencies and fire department
- Evaluates and monitors Club’s security systems including fire, earthquake and property alarms
- Reports any maintenance issues to engineering department
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for the safety of the Club’s physical plant including lighting, surveillance and locks
- Reviews event details and maintains adequate security for Club events
Director Of Safety Responsibilities
- Maintains, reviews and updates the Club’s emergency procedures manual, policies and operating systems, and all required employee safety program manuals.
- Responsible for ongoing safety training program for all departments
- Conducts periodic educational programs for management and staff in the areas of disaster planning, crime and fire prevention and first aid/CPR/AED. Conducts drills and routine safety inspections to ensure and test the readiness of staff and systems for emergencies
- Maintains all emergency supplies including AED machines, first aid kits, etc
- Investigates and analyzes reported violations of safety rules and recommend corrective actions
- Works closely with Human Resources and Managers to help administer workers compensation claims and assure legal compliance with state and federal requirements
- Point of contact for staff and all documentation regarding any incident or injury that could or has resulted in a Workers Compensation claim; this includes internal safety review and investigation and communication with claim medical providers and work status reports
- Keeps abreast of local, state and federal legislation pertinent to Club safety
Qualification Standards
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Formal education or equivalent experience in criminal justice or law enforcement
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the security of personnel and property. Management experience preferred
- Experienced and knowledgeable in security and law enforcement, crime prevention, public safety / CERT training, life safety training, OSHA compliance requirements
- Ability to supervise parking lot operations and control flow of traffic
- Welcoming and hospitable personality for members and guests, and cooperative with other departments/staff
- Proven leader who can accomplish goals through teamwork, training, coaching and leading by example
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Internet applications
- Knowledgeable of technologies which enable the effective administration of security measures
Education
- College degree desired. High School graduate, or equivalent required.
Experience
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a police officer, military police officer or security supervisor/manager
