Position Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific assigned projects, ensuring consistency with company strategies, commitments and goals. By applying professional principles, practices and techniques, the project manager leads the project management team to control project schedule, cost and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for a thorough understanding of each project’s definition, scope, goals and deliverables.
- Responsible for execution of projects to schedule, budget and technical performance.
- Leads the planning and implementation of project.
- May manage multiple projects in various stages of completion, depending upon size and complexity.
- Works with assigned Assistant Project Managers; communicates all project requirements and responsibilities and manages timelines and performance.
- Defines project tasks and resource requirements and effectively utilizes each team member’s skill sets.
- Proactively communicates project status, issues and risks to company management.
- Follow company policies, procedures and methodologies.
- Conduct formal/informal status meetings with all concerned stake holders (i.e. general contractor, owner, architect, office and field personnel, and sub-contractors).
- Manage project budget.
- Prepares and negotiates all project change orders.
- Manages and coordinates all shop drawings, field drawings and all other project details with general contractor, field personnel and other involved parties.
- Effectively utilize internal resources to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel, during all phases of the project.
- Prepare scope of work assessments and manage all quotes from outside sub-contractors.
- Select and manage cost-effective sub-contractors and negotiation of all project contracts.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Have a minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility and experience in project management positions with an emphasis on structural and/or architectural steel projects.
- Have strong experience with steel construction, and/or steel fabrication.
- Proven experience with: people management; strategic planning; risk management; and change management.
- Possess strong working knowledge of construction drawings and blue prints. Ability to read design documents and familiarity with design specifications (AISC, AWS and materials).
- Ability to organize and maintain complex data, drawings, legal contracts, requests for information and answers, and miscellaneous information through a project’s completion.
- Must be able to develop, maintain and modify project budgets.
- Ability to determine and track Cost to Completes, Change Orders and to forecast future costs.
- Knowledge and understanding of general construction contract and sub-contract language.
- Ability to maintain a professional relationship with clients, general contractors, engineers, field personnel, co-workers, project managers, design and detail personnel.
- Possess software capability of MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook.

Preferred:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent project management experience.
- Ability to use and navigate Tekla PowerFab or other manufacturing production computer system very desirable.
