Job Overview
Director of Operations for Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the production processes within a manufacturing facility. This role requires strategic planning, leadership, and a strong focus on operational efficiency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. The Director will collaborate with various departments to ensure that production goals are met while maintaining safety standards and adhering to budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency across manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align manufacturing operations with the overall business objectives.
2. Operational Oversight:
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring that production schedules are met and resources are utilized effectively.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
3. Process Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Implement best practices for production processes, quality control, and safety protocols.
4. Team Management:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities for staff.
5. Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost-effective practices while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements without compromising product integrity.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Promote a culture of safety within the manufacturing environment, implementing programs to reduce accidents and injuries.
7. Collaboration:
- Work closely with supply chain, engineering, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with procurement to maintain optimal inventory levels and manage supplier relationships.
8. Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting performance metrics, challenges, and proposed solutions.
- Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 7-10 years) in manufacturing operations management, with a track record of leadership in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
