Position Overview:
Rooftopia is a leading landscape & rooftop construction company based in Chicago, IL. We are seeking versatile, skilled and motivated Builder/Welders to join our team. As a team member of our construction division, you will play a crucial role in bringing our innovative and sustainable outdoor projects to life. Your craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively will contribute to creating luxury outdoor living spaces that transform urban rooftops and gardens into stunning, functional, and environmentally conscious spaces. We’re open to hiring individuals with a range of experience in the construction field. We can provide training for candidates who have the drive and capacity to learn new skills.
Job Description:
Rooftopia is looking for a full time Builder, preferably with metal fabrication and MIG welding experience, working knowledge of raw building materials, finishes and hardware. Advanced knowledge and proven safety record with all tools, and equipment. Qualified candidates must be detail-oriented, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and creative. While primarily building one of a kind luxury pergolas, privacy screens, fences, and architectural garden elements you will be responsible for professional and accurate installation of all elements of our projects.
General Responsibilities:
- Cutting, prepping and installation of building materials
- Shop prep; priming or painting materials as needed
- Use of drills and various fasteners
- Site Installation of pergolas, privacy screens, decks, railings, architectural garden elements
- Reading and interpreting construction plans/blueprints
- Picking up materials, loading and unloading work trucks carrying, lifting, hoisting site materials
- Driving to and from job sites
- Safely operating power tools, small machinery
- Site progress photos & daily team communication
- General cleaning on job sites and at the workshop
- Communication with clients and team members
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Welder training
- 2+ Years of field work as a fabricator or builder
- Knowledge of work site and tool safety
- Knowledge of construction techniques, hardware & tools
- Ability to set up equipment and tools for daily use at job sites
- Ability to deliver a high level of quality
- Detail oriented
- Ability to lift heavy objects, 50 - 80 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors year round
- Painting experience preferred
- Problem solving skills
- Valid Driver's license
- Honest, reliable, punctual
- Open mind to learn new skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Efficient time management and organizational skills
- English speaking

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
