Assistant Project Manager – DG Solar Construction (Southern Illinois)
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support Distributed Generation (DG) solar construction projects in Southern Illinois. This role involves on-site oversight during surveying, civil work, and various construction phases to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and project timelines. The ideal candidate will have construction experience, preferably in solar, and be comfortable working independently while leveraging technology for reporting and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee surveying, civil work, tree clearing, and other construction activities on-site.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Review and interpret civil construction drawings, survey files, and reference points.
- Utilize technology (smartphone, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint) to upload photos, generate reports, and track project progress.
- Identify and report workmanship issues during construction.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and field teams to maintain project timelines and quality.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 3-5 years of construction experience (solar preferred, but not required).
- Experience with electrical systems is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable using smartphones for reporting and photo documentation.
- Familiar with SharePoint and construction reporting software.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of civil construction and DG solar project execution (no rooftop experience required).
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and survey files.
Work Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week with flexibility for weekend work (Saturday & Sunday) as needed.
- Willingness to travel within the region for project oversight.
- Must have a smartphone capable of uploading reports and photos.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
