Transit Dispatcher
Starting Pay: $21.65
Join the City of Fredericksburg, named by Southern Living as one of the best small towns in the South, as a Full-Time Transit Dispatcher. This role is essential to ensuring smooth transit operations for our vibrant community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage transit dispatch operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching
- Operate communication equipment: two-way radio, telephone, CAD/AVL systems, computer mobile dispatch terminal, and scheduling systems
- Create, maintain, and monitor computerized driver manifests and schedules
- Respond to service requests and provide information to passengers and the public
- Deliver excellent customer service, both internally and externally
- Oversee transit operation safety and schedule adherence
- Assist transit operators as needed
- Work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Bus driver training and a minimum of 1-year experience driving a commercial or passenger vehicle
- Experience in transit dispatch or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience
- Availability to work weekends
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, criminal record check, and physical abilities testing
- Compliance with post-hiring random drug testing as per Department of Transportation requirements
