We’re partnering with a highly regarded sell-side investment firm with a strong footprint in equity research to find an experienced and insightful Equity Research Analyst for their Consumer Discretionary team. This hybrid NYC-based role offers a unique platform to generate high-impact, market-relevant research for a broad and sophisticated institutional client base.
This is a compelling opportunity for a motivated professional who has at least three years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or asset management, with a strong understanding of consumer-focused businesses. Sector Focus:
A strong foundation in Consumer Discretionary is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will bring direct experience analyzing companies within this space, with familiarity across key sub-verticals considered a significant plus. Coverage includes, but is not limited to:
- Retail (both eCommerce and brick-and-mortar)
- Consumer Durables & Apparel
- Automobiles & Components
- Household & Personal Products
- Hotels, Restaurants & Leisure
- Luxury Goods
- Broadline & Specialty Retail
- Media & Entertainment (as it pertains to discretionary consumer behavior)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep-dive fundamental analysis of companies within the Consumer Discretionary space.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and forecasts.
- Publish regular research reports including earnings previews/reviews, initiations, and thematic notes.
- Communicate investment ideas and insights to the firm’s institutional client base through written research, calls, and meetings.
- Collaborate with sales and trading teams to support client interaction and market engagement.
- Engage with company management teams, industry experts, and corporate IR professionals.
- Monitor sector developments, macroeconomic trends, and competitive dynamics impacting coverage.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, or buy-side analysis with a focus on the Consumer or related sectors.
- Strong command of accounting, financial modeling, and valuation techniques (DCF, comparables, etc.).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing high-quality, client-facing research.
- Series 65 license or CFA designation (or a willingness to obtain the Series 65 within a specified timeframe).
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using platforms like FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ, or similar tools.
