Job Title: Senior Buyer

Reports To: Procurement Manager
Job Summary: Bingham and Taylor is seeking a dedicated Senior Buyer who will drive procurement strategy and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, cost-effective goods and services. This role leads the execution of sourcing and procurement strategies across direct and indirect categories, aligning purchasing activities with operational goals. The Senior Buyer oversees inventory management, supports MRP processes, and provides supervisory leadership in procurement efforts for the Maintenance Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and support purchasing policies for both direct and indirect materials.
- Ensure all procured items meet quality standards and specifications.
- Review and act on MRP requirements within 48 hours, issuing purchase orders as needed.
- Monitor and update delivery commitments on all past-due items.
- Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
- Coordinate returns of non-conforming goods and negotiate credits where applicable.
- Prepare and analyze RFQs, presenting recommendations to stakeholders or leadership.
- Identify and recommend strategic suppliers, building and maintaining key relationships.
- Manage supplier negotiations on contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.
- Lead ERP Business Partner Management System; issue supplier scorecards and performance metrics.
- Track supplier cost savings/avoidances and report on regulatory or market risks.
- Provide data-driven analysis to support cost and service level optimization.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement leadership on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the Maintenance team by procuring spare parts, managing stock levels, and maintaining MRP data integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Foundry, metals, or plastics commodity experience preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems; IQMS/DELMIAWorks experience strongly preferred.
- APICS, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications desirable.
- Strong knowledge in MRP, RFQ processes, PLM, and strategic sourcing.
- Effective negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to multitask, manage time, assess risk, and drive continuous improvement.
