Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 3 years of work experience with a PhD degree.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD degree in a quantitative discipline.
- Experience articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Experience with optimization.
- Ability to select the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
About The Job
The mission for Storage Analytics is to measure, analyze, and optimize the cost, reliability, and performance of the Google Storage stack. The Storage Analytics team implements their mission statement though the following broad efforts: building a deep understanding of Google’s Infrastructure Storage System and how its components perform optimally using defined metrics, insightful statistics, and explanatory models. Characterizing inefficient behaviors and irregular anomalies and identifying the causes of such behaviors. Proposing for deployment efficiency improvements to the design architecture, system monitoring, resource provisioning, and production operations policies. Engaging in research with leading academic institutions and industrial vendors and thus providing strategic problem solving guidance to storage engineering functions.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering partners, and within the Analytics team, and strategic and tactical optimizations to the storage systems.
- Work with complex data sets, and perform non-standard analysis.
- Build probabilistic models of our systems, compare those models with production to identify opportunities and communicate understanding.
