1.0 ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 Responsible for administration of TMS/YMS software.
1.2 Recommend optimal transportation modes, carrier selection, routing, equipment, or frequency.
1.3 Create policies or procedures for logistics activities.
1.4 Train logistics department personnel in roles or responsibilities regarding global logistics strategies.
1.5 Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
1.6 Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions; act to implement same. Ensure the team understands and agrees to DOT regulations.
1.7 Develop and lead the carrier management process, including the selection, RFP Process freight, qualification, and/or performance evaluation.
1.8 Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
1.9 Develop and implement a forward-looking transportation strategy; analyze market offerings and trends, determine cost effective logistic methods, negotiate with key vendors.
1.10 Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.
1.11 Direct and supervise the work and productivity of all clerical associates within the logistics department.
1.12 Recommend purchase of new or improved technology, such as automated systems.
1.13 Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
1.14 Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping. Calculate freight rates for sales team.
1.15 Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
1.16 Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
1.17 Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
1.18 Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.
1.19 Manage all freight claims to resolution and implement processes to minimize their impact.
1.20 Responsible for planning, monitoring, and/or managing budget in functional area of department.
1.21 Prepare, analyze, manage and recommend proven processes to reduce time in transit, improve cost per delivery, increase percent of utilization, and ultimately improve customer satisfaction in a continuous improvement environment.
1.22 Oversee the full product journey from origin to final destination, ensuring seamless logistics execution.
1.23 Negotiate domestic freight and LTL/FTL shipping rates to ensure competitive pricing.
1.24 Work directly with brokers to evaluate shipping modes (LTL versus alternatives methods) select the best approach.
