About
The successful candidate will work to prepare and analyze omics data generated within the lab and beyond. Most work will focus on bulk and single-cell gene expression data from normal and cancerous human samples, but this may grow over time to include other organisms and molecular species.
Familiarity with the R programming environment is required, and knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python), workflow development languages (e.g., Snakemake, WDL, and Nextflow), and collaborative coding practices (e.g., GitHub) is a plus.
Responsibilities will primarily involve application of existing code, with some development of new code as needed. Under direct supervision, this individual will preprocess and perform quality control of omics datasets, execute the lab's analytical pipelines, and prepare these outputs for ingestion into a cloud-based data ecosystem. Additionally, this individual will have the opportunity to contribute to original analyses of omics data and serve as co-author on resulting publications. This is an entry-level role that is ideal for someone who is looking to gain at least two years of intensive computational biology research experience before applying to graduate school.
Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity.
