Operations Manager, Marine Services
The Operations Manager is responsible for performance of the Operations team, including but not limited to, Project Management, Service Coordination and Field Service activities for the location under his designated territory to exceed the jobs delivery expectations ensuring that the company is represented professionally, ethically, with high code of conduct, to achieve the financial, commercial, OHS and environmental targets of the company.
Specific Responsibilities
- Analyze financial and operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and mitigating business risks.
- Oversee timely order processing, invoicing, receivables, and backlog management.
- Prepare annual budgets, capital investment plans, and execution forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with ABB, federal, state, and local regulations, including OHS, ISO, and SOX.
- Manage project managers and service teams, handling recruitment, training, development, and succession planning.
- Set and monitor response targets for order processing, invoicing, and inventory management.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to drive market share and territory growth.
- Advise customers on turbocharger and engine-related technical issues to optimize product performance.
- Maintain facility upkeep and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Manage commercial documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- MBA or PMP certification (preferred)
Experience and Industry Knowledge:
- 5+ years of experience in Marine Industry service or Electrical Engineering service, preferably in a supervisory role
- Service experience in ABB Marine & Ports, including sales, project management, or coordination
- Service experience in the cruise and offshore industry
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with customers, factories, and internal teams
- Independent decision-maker with the ability to work on initiative
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow company strategy effectively
- Financially savvy with strong computer literacy
