The Assistant Buyer will report directly to the Buyer, supporting merchandising initiatives for both eCommerce and brick-and-mortar sales platforms. The Assistant Buyer will serve as a liaison for the product lifecycle, including order submissions, documentation, and modifications, while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing seasonal buy books by month/brand/category, as well as maintaining the eCommerce on-order master file (creation, adjustments, cancellations, and order extensions).
- Tracking warehouse product deliveries and final samples to help coordinate monthly eCommerce and ghost photoshoots.
- Keying seasonal collection orders and weekly reorders (entering, sizing, modifying, and submitting to the production team).
- Compiling recurring and ad-hoc weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting.
- Preparing seasonal market prep ahead of quarterly collection buys.
- Assisting in weekly inventory transfers across sales platforms (websites, stores).
- Partnering with cross-functional teams weekly regarding order management (eCommerce, logistics, production).
- Managing pre-order request uploads.
- Overseeing the entire eCommerce sample catalog and sample closet organization; partnering with internal and external teams to manage retrievals and turnover whereabouts.
- Sending weekly reorder recaps to the buying, planning, and production teams, as well as external brand partners.
- Coordinating with Shoot Stylist, Merchandiser, and Assistant Creative Director regarding photoshoot dates, products, & important updates.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in fashion buying or a similar merchandising field
- Degree in buying/merchandising field, or similar experience
- Basic retail math knowledge (sell-through, markup)
- Proficient in excel
- Clear communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Efficient time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal and external partners.
- Experience with JOOR and Shopify is a plus.
- Must be able to work in office 4 days per week in our NYC office, with 1 day work from home
