JOB TITLE:
MATERIAL COORDINATOR
JOB PURPOSE:
The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments per production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine whether material is required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material, and establish delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arrange for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examine material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified. This Worker may monitor and control the movement of material and parts along the conveyor system, using a remote-control panel board, computing the amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using an adding machine, compiling reports of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, assemblies, and equipment between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintains manuals and computerized records.
- Review production schedules and related information and confer with department supervisors to determine material requirements, identify overdue materials, and track material.
- Creates purchase requisitions for materials, parts, assemblies, and equipment, and establishes essential delivery dates for departments according to job order priorities and material availability.
- Examines material received and delivered to verify conformance with specifications. Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedule requirements.
- Computes amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes receipt and issue data and determines basic minimum on-hand requirements for stocked materials, parts, and equipment.
- Compiles and maintains manual and computerized records, such as: material inventories, in-process production reports, requisition/receipt/delivery reports, and status and location of materials and equipment.
- Arrange for repair and assembly of parts, materials, and equipment.
- Perform related supply functions as assigned by the COR.
- Move or transport materials between departments/locations, manually or using material handling equipment. Shall be qualified/certified to operate 10K. forklift truck.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Employees operating Material Handling Equipment will be qualified and licensed per OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.178, and MCO 5100.19F.
- Will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work independently.
- One (1) year experience working in a professional office setting.
- Must be proficient with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365) to perform support functions in production control.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate and resolve complex communication or logistical-related issues.
- Ability to work outdoors and throughout all seasons.
EDUCATION:
- Certificate in supply management
- Must possess a forklift license and OSHA certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- In lieu of the education requirement above, contractor personnel may have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Material Coordinator/Expeditor.
