Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Design Engineer to join our creative team of engineers. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. This specific position is related to Solid Rocket Motor Design requires expertise in propulsion, structural mechanics, and thermodynamics to research, design, analyze, and test aerospace products and technologies.
What You Will Be Doing• Design and develop solid rocket motor components and systems.
• Interface with structural and thermal analysts to ensure motor performance and safety.
• Lead/collaborate cross-functional teams to integrate rocket motors into overall vehicle design.
• Conduct research to stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate new technologies into designs.
• Create and maintain detailed design documentation.
• Lead in testing and evaluation of rocket motor prototypes.

• Experience: Depending on the specific position and seniority, relevant experience in rocket motor design, propulsion systems, or aerospace engineering is typically required.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for rocket motor modeling.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics.
• Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
• Familiarity with industry-SRM specific software and tools.
• Knowledge: A deep understanding of solid rocket motor principles, including propellant chemistry, nozzle design, ignition systems, and thrust optimization.
• Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex engineering challenges, propose solutions, and make informed design decisions.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams, presenting design concepts, and documenting work.
• Insensitive Munitions Awareness: An understanding of insensitive munitions protocols and practices in the design of rocket motors, given the potential hazards involved.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance
• Must be willing to travel domestically up to 50%
Desired Skills:• Master’s degree or PhD in in a technical discipline such as physics or aerospace engineering
• Hands-on experience with program/project work in applied R&D and / or production support
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
