As a member of Grand Central Bakery’s senior leadership team, the Retail Director oversees retail operations in support of the company’s mission to serve our customers delicious, authentic food made from high-quality local and sustainable ingredients. Through inspired strategic planning and collaboration across department lines, the Retail Director is responsible for ensuring our employees have the systems in place to meet our promise to be the best part of our customers’ day. This position ensures that senior leadership across Grand Central Bakery has visibility into customer feedback and experience, sharing the impact and importance of delicious products and outstanding customer service with all. The Retail Director leads the concept development and growth plan for all cafe locations. This position collaborates with senior leadership on the creation, evolution, and implementation of scalable systems that balance mission integrity with company financial and growth objectives.
Salary: $135,000 full-time annual equivalent, with annual bonus potential
Location: This position may be located in either Portland, Oregon or Seattle, Washington. Ability to regularly travel between cities required.
Travel requirements: To best support the organization, the Retail Director regularly travels between Portland and Seattle.
Remote work: This position is eligible to work remotely part-time (hybrid).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A passion for delicious food and outstanding customer service.
- 10 or more years’ successful experience spearheading and implementing the retail growth strategy of a high volume, growing, multi-location company.
- 10 or more years’ experience hiring, leading, and developing managers.
- Budget creation and management experience. Experience with and enthusiasm for Open Book Management principles preferred.
- Analytical skills to establish and report on metrics, forecast, and identify trends.
- Experience with and commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing.
- ERP & POS systems management experience.
- Ability to travel between locations.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Due to this position being located in a food production facility, this position is to maintain a valid Food Handler's Card.
- Intermediate computer skills including use of MS Office or comparable programs
