Job Summary:The Network Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and managing the existing network infrastructure at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS). This role ensures network reliability, security, and performance to support the Center’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Monitor network traffic, analyze bandwidth usage, and optimize network resources for reliability and performance
- Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and secure network protocols
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and mitigate threats
- Install, configure, and manage network devices and components
- Maintain and update configurations and firmware for all network equipment
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and respond promptly to network outages
- Manage network user accounts, permissions, and access controls, ensuring security and compliance
- Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and other access control measures
- Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, topologies, and security policies
- Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on network best practices
- Stay current with evolving network technologies and security practices to improve infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications:- Certification:Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+
- Experience:Minimum of three (3) years in network administration, troubleshooting, and security implementation
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, or similar network equipment
- Familiarity with firewall management and network security best practices
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance optimization
- Ability to document and maintain network configurations effectively
Work Environment & Conditions:- Work will be performed on-site at DKI APCSS in Honolulu, HI
- Standard work hours: Monday – Friday, 0800-1600 HST, except on federal holidays
- Must comply with DoD security regulations and complete required security training
